DPS Most Wanted list proves successful with multiple captures in under a week

On January 8, the Department of Public Safety in coordination with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation released a Most Wanted List with 10 individuals who were of high priority to be detained in Mississippi.

Since releasing the list, five of those individuals have already been apprehended.

A seal on the boiler for the facility blew over the New Year weekend, again flooding significant portions of the building — the exact same problem that occurred over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2019.

Mississippi unemployment rate better than national average

Mississippi's unemployment rate was 6.4 percent in November, 2020 -- down a full percentage point from October's 2020 rate of 7.4 percent.

This was slightly better than the national unemployment rate of 6.7 percent. Mississippi's rate a year ago, November 2019, was 5.6 percent. Mississippi's has 24,900 fewer jobs than a year ago.
