The local community gathered Monday to observe Memorial Day, a holiday created to honor the memories of those who did not return from their military service for the United States. Special guest speaker was Major Sheri Biggs of the Air National Guard.

Elizabeth A. Cain, 30, a white female from Sallis, MS, has been arrested was charged with accessory after the fact to aggravated assault. The charges result from a shooting incident in the early morning hours of April 18.
The fourth-grade Quest class at Kosciusko Upper Elementary School performed a comical adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” for students, teachers and their parents. The play was written by teacher Nikki Fleming and her husband, Rusty.

Suspended KPD Investigator Greg Collins will return to the force as a lieutenant in the next few weeks, according to Mayor Jimmy Cockroft. Chief Herbert Dew is currently looking at scheduling that will have Collins resume duty on either May 31 or June 3.
