The French Camp slow-pitch softball team had a win and two losses last week. The Lady Panthers defeated Cleveland Central 13-1 in a tournament at Eupora, but lost to South Pontotoc 13-1 at the same tournament and were beaten by Columbus 8-2.
Lack of depth, with several players going both ways, was a key in French Camp’s 34-24 loss to Winona Christian last week. And it is something FCA coach Nathan Wright and his Panthers will be working on as the season continues.

A desire by Terry Roberts for a softball team for his daughters led to the field that has been named for him. The French Camp softball field officially became the Terry Roberts Field in ceremonies at the team's first slow-pitch game of the season Aug. 12.

Saturday was a special day for a Kosciusko High School Coaching legend and a Weir sports legend. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame held induction ceremonies for the six-member Class of 2019, and two have deep local roots.
