Smiles of students at Long Creek Elementary School are brighter this week. Smiles To Go, a mobile dentistry lab, visited the school last Friday giving screenings, cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatment and x-rays to 179 students during the one-day visit.
Connie Henderson, who was recently selected Teacher of the Year in the Kosciusko School District, said she feels fortunate to have a part in shaping the minds of young students as they establish a foundation for life.
Life in the early years of Attala County and Kosciusko was remembered last Thursday night by local historians during a program at the Attala County Library, held in conjunction with National Library Week.
Adyson Poole was named Miss Natchez Trace Festival in a pageant Friday night kicking off activities of the annual event.
The 2018 Natchez Trace Festival Poster was inspired by the artist’s grandsons from Arkansas, who always make a trip to the courthouse square when visiting their grandparents, Earl and Melinda Price.
Conor Bell, new band director at Ethel High School, gave an assessment of inventory and informed regarding plans for what he termed a “rebuild situation” for the band program during the Monday night meeting of the Attala County School Board.
Cycling stories from the Trace
“I’m really impressed,” said world traveler Brian Becker about his travels on the Natchez Trace Parkway.
Becker took a break at the Visitors Center in Kosciusko recently, having started his bicycle trek in Natchez.
