Cheek-Blair

The wedding of Brittany Lauren Blair and Stephen Corey Cheek was celebrated in a recent evening ceremony at the DeSoto Hills Baptist Church in Southaven.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Blair of Olive Branch. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome “Romey” Looney of Southaven, Donald Blair of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Anita Blair of Fairfax, Virginia. The groom is the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Stephen Cheek of Kosciusko. He is the grandson of. William Roby and the late Mrs. Frances Roby, the late. J.C. Cheek, and the late Mrs. Frances Cheek, all of Kosciusko.

Rev. James Lewis officiated the ceremony. Organist Jennifer Ruston, trombonist A.J. McDonald, and vocalists Ben Chism, Lindsey Rowsey, and Cheryl Pearce provided music for the ceremony.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white strapless satin gown. The A-line gown featured a split-front overskirt and a fitted bodice. Both the bodice and the chapel-length train were accented by pastel embroidery. The bride’s shoulder-length veil fell from a crystal tiara. She carried a bouquet of white roses and blue hydrangeas accented by a crystal butterfly and hand tied with white satin ribbon and pearls.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was the groom’s sister, Megan Hodge. Bridesmaids were Ashley and Courtney Blair, sisters of the bride, and Kathryn Powell. The attendants wore cocktail-length strapless gowns of cornflower blue chiffon with fitted, shirred bodices. They wore pearl necklaces, gifts from the bride, and carried hand-tied bouquets of white Fuji mums. The flower girls were Anna Grace Kuhn, cousin of the groom, and Caroline and Alexandria Looney, cousins of the bride. The flower girls wore white dresses with cornflower sashes.

Serving the groom as best man was his father. Groomsmen were Logan Cheek, brother of the groom, and Jon Wallace.

Tall columns holding large urns of cascading arrangements featuring white roses, white Fuji mums, and palm leaves flanked the candlelit altar.

Cindy Heilbronner, aunt of the groom, directed the wedding.

Following the wedding ceremony, the wedding party and guests were treated to an elegant dinner reception at the DeSoto County Civic Center. The reception hall, featuring round tables covered in white linen with chairs covered in white satin, was decorated with large floral arrangements, blue petals, mirrors, and candlelight. The bride’s three-tier white wedding cake was adorned with pearl trimming and a cornflower blue bow. The groom’s strawberry cake was a replica of a large golf ball nestled on a bed of grass. Guests danced to the music of Class Reunion, the band to which the groom’s father belongs.

Following a honeymoon to a resort near Cancun, the couple is at home in Gulfport.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents honored the couple with a rehearsal dinner at the Mesquite Chop House in Southaven.

The bride was feted with several showers in the Southaven area during their engagement.

Family and friends honored the newlyweds with an evening reception at the Maple Terrace Inn in Kosciusko. Torches outlined the walkway to the inn; fall flowers and foliage decorated the inn; and a variety of delectables covered the dining room table.
