Hannah Lacey Bryant and James Robert Rigby, Jr., were united in marriage at three o’clock on a Saturday afternoon, in a ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Kosciusko.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bryant of Kosciusko, and granddaughter of Mrs. Albert Bryant and the late Mr. Bryant and Mrs. Billie Wasson and the late Mr. Wasson, all of Kosciusko.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Moore of Bentonia, and grandson of Mrs. Hubert Stephens and the late Mr. Donald Wilkerson.
Rev. Phillip Palmertree presided over the double ring ceremony. Nuptial music was provided by Mrs. Charles Carter, organist; Ms. Rhonda Lyle, pianist; and vocalists Alison Baker and Ginger Bennett, all family of the bride.
The church sanctuary featured a large pittosporum garland, from which hung a large wreath of pittosporum with a cascading floral arrangement of white roses, blue and white delphinium, blue hydrangea, and bells of Ireland.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a diamond-white silk strapless gown with a small champagne satin accent around the bodice and matching sash at the waist, closed by an antique pearl brooch belonging to her maternal grandmother. Her double layered veil of illusion fell to fingertip length. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses accented by green hypericum berries
Julia Bryant, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Maggie Moore, sister of the groom, and Emily Carney, Leslie Davison, Lauren Monday, Megan Norris, and Cheryl Thayer, friends of the bride, served as bridesmaids. Emily Wasson, cousin of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid. Attendants wore navy silk tricotine knee-length gowns featuring a surplice neckline and an empire waist. Katie Grace Browning, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl. Bridesmaids carried hand-tied bouquets of blue hydrangea, white roses, and green hypericum berries
Stephen Dove, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were William Bryant, brother of the bride, August Johnson, Matthew Jones, John Stofleth, and Paul Vronsky, friends of the groom.
Greeting guests to the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Greg LeVert. The wedding was directed by Carrie Bryant Browning, cousin of the bride, and documented by photographers Mike and Diane Barrett. Wedding flowers were designed and arranged by Becky Lawrence.
Reception
After the ceremony, guests were directed to the courtyard and fellowship hall of the church, where they enjoyed a Southern celebration. Classical guitarist Jimmy Turner, a long-time instructor of the groom, provided music. An array of food, catered by Linda Reynolds, was featured around a large urn filled with blue and white delphinium and bells of Ireland, with a collar of white roses, blue hydrangea and green lady apples.
The four-tier lemon wedding cake was adorned with blue hydrangea, white roses, and pittosporum. The cake was placed on a round silver cake plateau, and the bridesmaids’ bouquets hung in a smilax and willow garland behind the bride’s table. The grooms’ table featured a chocolate cake decorated with green orchids, grapes, kiwi, and lady apples.
Reception servers included Catherine Bryant, Courtney Bryant, Robin Bryant, and Stephanie Nielson, cousins of the bride, and Victoria and Alexandria Paton.
The couple ran through a shower of lavender as they exited the reception. After honeymooning in Banff, Canada, the couple is now at home in Durham, N.C., where Hannah is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and JR is a graduate student at Duke University.
Rehearsal and Showers
On the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Shady Grove, the family home of the bride. The bride’s family hosted a bridal luncheon on the Friday before the wedding in the home of Mrs. Billie Wasson.
The bride was feted with several showers during their engagement, including a shower hosted by First Presbyterian Church of Kosciusko, a Christmas shower, and a kitchen shower.
