Melinda Anne Woodall and Benjamin Hill Davidson were married at five o’clock in the afternoon on August 16, 2008. The Rev. Tambria Lee officiated at the ceremony held at Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Following the ceremony, a dinner reception was hosted at The Carolina Inn by the parents of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ivey Woodall, Jr. of Badin Lake, N.C. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Cline of Kannapolis, N. C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Ivey Woodall, Sr. of Nashville, N. C. Melinda is a graduate of Charlotte County Day School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was President of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and a member of Order of Omega. Melinda is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Nurse Anesthesia from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and is a member of the National Honor Society of Nursing.

The groom is the son of the Honorable and Mrs. Hubert James Davidson, Jr. of Columbus, Mississippi. He is the grandson of Mr. James Harvey Alexander, Sr. and the late Elsie Esther Alexander of Columbus, and Mrs. Ida Hill Davidson and the late Hubert James Davidson, Sr. of Kosciusko.

Ben is a graduate of the Mississippi School of Mathematics and Science and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Carolina Scholar. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University Law Center and is employed by Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP in Washington, DC.

The bride’s sister, Sharon Woodall Maute of Chicago, Illinois, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kimberly Juanita Bell Burrows of Chapel Hill, N. C., Elizabeth Davidson, sister of the groom, of New York City, N. Y., Erin Lemon of Charlottesville, Va., Anna Higgins Marshall of New York City, N. Y., and Katharine Randall Rackoff of Chicago, Ill.

Groomsmen were Ross Anthony Cidlowski of Brooklyn, N. Y., Alexander Keblish of Ridgewood, N. Y., Clayton Davidson LaForge, cousin of the groom from Oak Hill, Va., and Nathaniel Long Reynolds of Arlington, Va.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a strapless alencon lace gown with abstract beading. The organza semi circle skirt

extended to the chapel length train with a chapel length veil trimmed with alencon lace, and she carried a bouquet of summer flowers. Her antique lace handkerchief was carried by her grandmother, mother and sister in their own weddings.

Scripture readings were given by Caroline Druin LaForge and Nancy Davidson LaForge, cousin and aunt of the groom. Martina Botty Bill and Michele Marie Lynch, college friends of the bride, were greeters for the ceremony. Music was provided by Doctor Wylie Quinn.

Melinda was honored by her sister at a bachelorette weekend in Chicago and at a luncheon in the Piedmont Room at the Carolina Inn the day before the wedding. The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding at Panzanella Restaurant in Carrboro, N. C.

After a wedding trip to islands in Tahiti, the couple will reside in Arlington, Va.
