Cox-Legg wedding vows said in Winona Church ceremony

The marriage of Erin Virginia Legg and John Reuben Cox was celebrated on December 15, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of Winona. Officiating the 5 p.m. double ring ceremony were Bro. T. R. Darsey of Winona and Bro. Gene Richardson of Kosciusko.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Legg of Winona. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Cox of Kosciusko.

The church was decorated with traditional Christmas wreaths and green garland adorned in red bows. Christmas greenery and candles filled each window. A wrought iron cross and two wrought iron candelabras were above the choir loft. The focal point was a massive live poinsettia tree, which was the setting for the lighting of the couple’s oneness candle.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a champagne gown of silk taffeta. An off the shoulder neckline enhanced the mermaid gown which was embellished with crystals, sequins, and seed pearls. Her headpiece was a crystal and pearl tiara with layers of beaded illusions falling to the back waist. The gown featured a tiffany train. She wore three-drop pearl earrings and bracelet, a gift from her parents. Erin carried a bouquet of red roses, lime green buttons and red hypericum berries, wrapped with the lace beaded sleeve of her mother’s bridal gown.

Keenan and Cindy Wilson and Steve Lester were soloists for the occasion. Mrs. Hattie Bourne served as pianist and Mrs. Peggy Ramsey, organist.

Serving as maid of honor was Miss Kellum Oliver. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Samantha Adam, Miss Maggie Campbell, Miss Marjorie Caulder, Miss Lauren Chambley, Miss Katie Hooks, and Mrs. Neeli Cox Kirkendall. Bridesmaids wore cocktail length black tissue taffeta two-piece dresses and carried hand-tied bouquets of red amaryllis.

Serving as best man was Mr. Terry Cox. Groomsmen were Chintan Desai, Brett Dyess, Trent Floyd, Jeremy Lepard, Josh Massey, Wes Myers and Holland Myers.

Flower girls were Madison Carter, Caroline Dreher, and Katelynn Kirkendall. They wore designer monogrammed ivory tulle and silk dresses with a champagne sash. The ring bearer was Grant Blaylock.

Ushers included Tyler Alldread, Michael Cooper, Joey Johnson, Brandon Kim, Brandon Peninger, Todd Taylor, and Brandon Thornton.

Program attendants were Grey Blaylock and Zachary Carter. The registry attendant was Jenny Claire Hammond.

Mrs. Donna McNeer directed the wedding while Mrs. Gay Hammond was the wedding coordinator.

Reception

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception, catered by Brenda Wiseman. The reception was held in the Family Life Center which was filled with lighted Christmas trees and poinsettia trees. Also featured were trees decorated with keepsake ornaments of the couple.

The bride’s cake was a gorgeous four-tiered cake with layers of white, Italian crème, and red velvet layers topped with a bouquet of red roses. The third layer featured the initial “C.”

The bride’s table was flanked with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree adorned with champagne colored ornaments.

Groomsmen served the groom’s cake, which was a delicious two-tiered chocolate on chocolate cake topped with chocolate dipped strawberries. The groom’s table featured a rustic scene of deer and ducks. A Christmas tree decorated with ornaments of wildlife completed the display.
