The Kosciusko All-Stars were set to face Pascagoula in the third round of the Dixie Boys State Tournament last night at 7 in Hattiesburg.
Kosy was undefeated in the tourney going into the game, opening with a 6-4 win over Natchez in the opener and then following that up with an 11-1 win over Magee.
Kosciusko had a great pitching performance from Cole McBride against Natchez. He lasted until the 6th inning leading 4-0 when he was forced to leave the game because of his pitch count which is a new Dixie Boys rule this year. Patrick Adams came in and got the final out of the 6th.
Natchez used errors to rally and tie the game at 404 in the bottom of the seventh. Neither team could scratch in the eighth, but in the top of the ninth, Kosciusko picked up two runs and then Porter closed the door on Natchez.
With the win, Kosciusko had the day off Sunday and played Monday night against Magee.
Kosy got another great pitching performance from Stephen Hanson. Hanson also lasted until the 6th when he was replaced by Ethan Porter, who faced only one batter. Kosciusko loaded the bases in the bottom of the 6th and Sam Dabbs got the winning hit up the middle to score the 11th run to give Kosciusko the win 11-1 in 6 innings.
Kosciusko had a good day at the plate with seven hits. McBride had a three-run homer in the third inning.
