Kosciusko 7s, 8s take coach-pitch DYB titles

Both the 8-year-old and 7-year-old Kosciusko Coach-Pitch All-Stars won their respective Dixie Youth District Tournaments this past week.

The 8-year-olds lost their opener 9-7 to Philadelphia, but then defeated Carthage 4-2, Canton 17-2 and Carthage 9-4 to win the district and advance to the North State Tournament in Cleveland beginning July 17.

The 7-year-old all-stars beat Carthage 20-10 and Philadelphia 16-1 to win the title and will also advance to Cleveland on July 17.



Philadelphia 9,

Kosciusko 7

In the 8-year-old tournament the Kosy team fell behind 6-0, but fought back to cut it to 9-7 with a four-run sixth inning.

Lance Wilson and Alex Arnold led Kosciusko with a double and two singles, while Landon Rawson had three singles.

Wilson, Wes Hudson and Brandon Black each had doubles in the four-run sixth inning.



Kosciusko 4,

Carthage 2

Kosciusko won this defensive battle by scoring two runs each in the third and fourth innings.

Clayton Leathers singled and Landon Rogers tripled in the two-run third, while Wilson doubled and Chase Morgan and Arnold each singled in the fourth.

Wilson, Arnold, Leathers and Rogers had two hits each in the game for the winners.



Kosciusko 17,

Canton 2

The winners scored six times in the first and 10 times in the fourth to roll to the solid win.

Morgan had a triple and two singles to lead Kosy at the plate in the game, while Rogers and Wilson picked up three singles apiece.



Kosciusko 9,

Carthage 4

Kosy used a four-run third to take a 4-2 lead and then held on to win the district title.

Rogers whacked a homer in the big fourth-inning for the winners, while Leathers, Landon Rawson and Cullen Cummins each singled. Justin Nunn had three singles in the game for Kosciusko, while Rogers tripled and homered and Black had a double and triple.
