The golf season came to an end for Kosciusko High School last week with a third-place finish in the region tournament held at Patrick Farms in Pearl.
Kosy head coach Shelby Kuhn said his Whippets scored about like he thought they would, but a surprising performance by Ridgeland pushed KHS down to third place.
Neshoba Central won the event, while Ridgeland was second and Kosy was third with a 337, seven strokes behind Ridgeland.
Derek Roos carded a 79 to lead Kosy, while Will Chadick scored an 83, while Holden Singletary had an 85. Jonathan Dugan and Kirk Stonestreet each carded 90s.
“We scored about what I thought we would,” Kuhn said. “We thought we had a chance to advance.”
Ridgeland’s third-place golfer score a 74, about seven strokes lower than usual, which gave the Titans the edge.
