Marion Hugh "Andy" Andrews
Retired Staff Sergeant Marion Hugh "Andy" Andrews, 60, of Kosciusko died Dec. 25, 2006 at his residence of heart failure.
Services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Coleman Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Meggs will officiate.
Visitation will be held Dec. 27, 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Andrews was a Tac Fire Operations Specialist for the U.S. Army. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam where he was a POW for three years. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, two Purple Hearts, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with a Silver Star, two Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with a Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, six Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons, and two NCO Professional Development Ribbons.
Andrews was recommended twice for the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery, unyielding service, and saving of numerous military lives.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Andrews; daughter, Brenda Thweatt and husband Bobby; two sons, Joseph Dill and wife Pennie of Lafayette, Ga., and Matthew Andrews of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Christy Buddington and husband Phillip, Leigh Ann Norwood and husband Daniel, Sharon Thweatt and fiance Jonathan, all of Kosciusko; Tyler and Desiree Dill of Lafayette, Ga.; two great-grandsons, Brian and Codi Buddington.
A full military service will be conducted.
Rev. Jerry Meggs is to officiate.
Pallbearers are military personnel and honorary pallbearers are Tyler Dill, Brian and Codi Buddington.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
