Joseph Andrew Harkins

Joseph Andrew Harkins, 77, of Carthage, a retired maintenance supervisor for the Mississippi Fair Commission, died July 2, 2009 at his residence in Leake County.

Visitation is Friday, July 3, 5-8 p.m. with rosary to be at 7 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Therese’s Catholic Church with burial in Saint Anne’s Cemetery in Leake County. Father Mike Barth, S.T. will officiate.

He was a member of Woodmen of the World, a retired director of The Carthage Bank from 1984-2005, and a former member of the Selective Service Board. He was a member of St. Therese’s Catholic Church in Kosciusko.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edith Weisenberger Harkins of Carthage; sons, Teddy Harkins and Joe Harkins, both of Carthage; daughters, Lynn Triplett of Thomastown, Ann Shannon of Good Hope, Florence “Flo” Henley of Starkville, and Eliza Thomas of Carthage; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Alberta Elizabeth Holland Harkins and son, John Anthony Harkins.

Memorials may be sent to St. Therese’s Catholic Church.
