Opal Caroline Ferrell Gilbert
Mrs. Opal Caroline Ferrell Gilbert, 83, of French Camp, died June 26, 2009 at the Attala County Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, at 3 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Rev. Doyle Mitchell and Rev. Daniel Blaylock will officiate.
Mrs. Gilbert was born in the Chapel Hill Community on March 9, 1926. She was the daughter of Clyde and Alice Luella Ferrell.
She retired as a sheet metal and hardware assembler and welder from Sheller Globe’s Superior Coach Division in Kosciusko. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her five children. She had been a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church since 1936.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell Edward Gilbert Sr.; sister, Alice Faye Ferrell; granddaughter, Angela Marie Thrailkill.
Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her children, Russell Edward Gilbert Jr. and wife, Silvia of Tucson, AZ, James Clyde Gilbert of French Camp, Judy Caroline Frazier and husband, Michael of Florence, Harvey wall Gilbert and wife, Margaret of McCool, and Freddie Ferrell Gilbert, and wife, Brenda of the New Port Community; grandchildren, Andy Thrailkill Jr. of Jackson, Anthony Gilbert of Columbus, Jeremy Gilbert and Rusty Gilbert, both of McCool, Barbara Jean Gilbert Moore of Dallas, TX, Silvia Marie Gilbert of Wisconsin, and Samantha Gilbert of Sallis; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Lou Stewart and husband, Buddy of Kosciusko, and Silvia Lynn Sanders of French Camp; brother, Ennis Clyde Ferrell and wife, Clemma of French Camp.
Pallbearers are Andy Thrailkill Jr., Anthony Gilbert, Jeremy Gilbert and Rusty Gilbert.
