Native Kosciuskian addresses board about Kosciusko Police Department

By Leslie N. Dees

City attorney George Dorrill said he would be glad to help native Tommy Davis with obtaining information about a wreck he had in January 2007.

Davis addressed the Kosciusko Board of Aldermen about some concerns he had with the Kosciusko Police Department during the Tuesday, Oct. 20, board meeting. Davis said his car was parked when it was struck on Hillview Drive and the incident report doesn’t have the address of the woman at fault.

He added that he has attempted to get the information from the Kosciusko Police Department so that he can press charges against her in Justice Court.

“The Kosciusko Police Department is being uncooperative,” Davis said. “The Kosciusko Police Department is prohibiting justice from being served.”

Dorrill said he would be glad to look into the matter for Davis since it was a matter of public record.

The board approved the following:

–Extend uncleaned property hearings for 109 South Huntington St. and 224 Cedar Street until Nov. 3.

–Minutes from Sept. 15 and Oct. 6 meetings.

–Proclamation for Community Planning Month.

–Purchase of two police vehicles from Watson Quality Ford. A portion of the funds comes from a USDA grant.

–Purchase decals for the D.A.R.E. car. The city school system has offered to share the cost of $3,000. The city will use left over funds from the Partnership for a Healthy Attala County.

–Accepted the resignation of Kosciusko Fireman Dietrick Brown and to advertise for the position. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 12.

–Deadline for deputy court clerk applications to Oct. 23.

–Travel and claims docket
