Kosy man takes over Lexington PD as chief

By Nancy Green

Martin Roby, former law enforcement officer in Attala County, has been named Chief of Police in Lexington.

Roby, who began his duties in the Holmes County town, on August 5 formerly worked in the Kosciusko Police Department and the Attala County Sheriff’s Department.

“We welcome Chief Roby to the Lexington Police Department and look forward to his administration, moving our city forward by putting the health, welfare and safety of our citizens foremost,” said Mayor Robin McCrory.

Roby began with the KPD as a patrolman, advanced to the detective division, was named SWAT commander and was serving as a lieutenant when he left the department.

He worked with the Attala County Sheriff’s Department from 2002-07 as chief investigator before establishing his personal business, Pro Security South.

Roby said his vision for Lexington is to make it comfortable and safe for all citizens to travel all streets without being afraid and to take care of some needed cleanup.

“I plan to begin a strict drug enforcement campaign. I also want to get case files that need to go to the grand jury for prosecution”, said Roby.

Roby is presently continuing to reside in Kosciusko. He is married to the former Shelia Groves and they have four children.
