December trial set in Green slaying

By Leslie N. Dees

The trial for the inmate accused of murdering Charles Green has been set for Dec. 8, at 9 a.m. by Judge C.E. Morgan III, according to court documents.

Darrell McBride, 33, was charged with murder on June 5 at the Kemper County Correctional Facility.

Green, owner of Acres O’Lakes catfish farm, was found mortally wounded by his wife, Nancy, at their Attala County residence March 4, 2002.

McBride has been serving an 18-year manslaughter sentence since 2004.

LaTricia Wilson was murdered in 2003 in Leake County and her body was found in Attala County in Lobutcha Creek.

Attala County Sheriff William Lee said there is strong physical evidence that led the department to charge McBride.

The deadline for a change of venue has been set for Sept. 15.

All pretrial motions must be submitted by Oct. 10, with a hearing on those motions by Oct. 20.

McBride is being represented by public defenders Rosalind Jordan and Richard Carter.
