KCS change cafeteria prices
Kosciusko City Schools’ students will have a little less change in their pockets in the upcoming school year.
During the KCS board meeting Monday night, the board approved to change the lunch and breakfast prices for the upcoming school year.
Student breakfast went from $0.75 to $1 and lunch changed from $1.75 to $2. Adult breakfast also saw an increase – breakfast went from $1.50 to $1.75 and lunch from $2.75 to $3.
Superintendent David Sistrunk said the increase was needed due to the increase in minimum wage for food service workers and the increase of food prices.
The board also approved the Food Service Procurement Plan for the upcoming school year.
The school system’s budget was approved as well along with resolution for the city to collect the shortfall of $43,133.09 and an order requesting ad valorem tax dollars for 2008-2009.
Change orders were accepted on the girls softball complex, football concession area and the Kosciusko Lower Elementary classrooms and bathroom. A deduction of $330,340 was taken after changes were made on the materials that would be used. The project is now $1,238,000.
