Gift shop relocates to Downtown Square

By Matthew Breazeale

“A little bit of everything” is what they offer at one of Kosciusko’s newest businesses around, Anticipations.

Relocating from Vaiden, the Sanders have taken on retail as a new venture for their prismatic careers.

Bradley, an agro-engineer, and Terri Lyn, a nurse, run the monogramming, baby craft, clothing and gift store on Court Square, in the former Parker’s Shoe Store location.

Terri Lyn originally started out doing baby crafts at home for friends and neighbors and continued to broaden her horizons into full fledge retail business.

“We hope to be here for a long time and do real well, just expand in merchandise,” said Terri Lyn.

Luckily not much work had to be done inside the store for it to become operational, owned by Arthur Cook, the building was business ready, “Basically we just brought our stuff in and set up,” said Bradley.

The Sanders came to Kosciusko looking for a new location for their Vaiden based business since “most of our business was coming from Kosciusko,” admitted Bradley, “so we just moved to where the business was coming from.”

“We’d been looking at different places and found out that Arthur Cook owned this place so we just worked out a deal…everything coincidently just kinda fell into place.”

Purses, handbags and wallets are Anticipations biggest seller. “We offer a lot of different things and I’ve tried not to do the same as everybody else,” Terri Lyn continued.

Other local businesses with similar merchandise include Attala Discount Drugs and Gifts and Josephine’s.

One customer stated how well a variety of gifts the new business offered, “It’s a perfect place for a woman to shop for purses, gifts and jewelry,” said Gena Hill, avid Kosciusko shopper.

The French Camp residents frequently visit America’s Market in Atlanta, Georgia for high quality merchandise while making business contacts at the same time.

Anticipations also offers monogram jewelry from Morgan and Co., embroidered buttons, necklaces, key-chains, cell phone charms, and candles.
