Attala County Fire Coordinator and Emergency Management Director Danny Townsend was granted permission by the Attala County Board of Supervisors to apply for an Emergency Operations Center funding grant during their Monday meeting.
Townsend said that the pre-grant application had to be turned into the federal government by July 21.
If awarded, the grant is a 75 percent federal grant with a 25 percent match by the county for up to $1 million.
The board asked that attorney Scott Pickle send a letter to William K. Jones of Winona a bill for damages that occurred at the fire station in District 2 in May. Jones ran into the pipe railing near the fire station.
If Jones does not pay for the damages, he could face criminal charges.
The board approved the following:
– Finance the new fire truck for three years at 3.445 percent at Citizens National Bank.
– N.L. Carson Construction to repair bridges on Attala County Road 5001 for $1.7 million.
– Claims docket
– A payment to Gardener Engineering for $12, 985.33
– Attala County Sheriff William Lee’s fourth quarter budget
– Tax Collector Kempe Hodges fourth quarter budget
– Matt Steed automobile tag credit.
– Rejected the bids on a vibratory roller and a 1996 Ford truck.
– Took under advisement bids on coliseum repairs.
