Wire, auto parts taken in county

By Leslie Dees

Thieves have been on the loose in Attala County.

Attala County Sheriff William Lee said Carousel Motors on Attala County Road 4171 was missing a few items.

Lee said owner Arnold Lowe reported someone was outside attempting to steal auto parts.

Demontric Hughes, 23, of Lexington was charged with burglary.

The Kosciusko Police Department assisted in the case.

More burglaries

Vernon Lowe’s hunting camp on Attala County Road 4136 had been broken into and the electric cords had been taken off of the stove, coffee maker and several other appliances on Sunday.

On Saturday, Douglas Burt reported to the Sheriff’s Department that his trailer on Highway 14 West had been ransacked.

Lee said they found that the electrical wiring in the trailer had been taken.

Johnny Riley reported equipment on his rental property was missing on Monday, June 16.

Lee said there is a suspect in the case of the missing cast iron tub, planters and plow.

Other

Cory Perteet, 21, of Attala County Road 4045, was arrested and charged with domestic violence for allegedly hitting his mother on Thursday, June 19.

Illegal dumping was reported on Coon Trail Road Sunday. Lee said there is a suspect in this case.
