County crime briefs: Trailer stolen; Husband, wife charged; etc.

Trailer stolen

Bill Rutledge reported his 12-foot trailer was stolen from his Attala County Road 4171 property Saturday.

Nail said a witness saw two black men in a maroon truck leaving with the trailer.

Husband, wife charged

Monday, the ACSD charged John Barta and his wife, Joy, with domestic violence.

Nail said allegedly Joy stabbed John twice, once in the left leg and in the upper left back.

The incident happened in the Zama Community on Highway 19 South.

Nail said John was treated at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital and released.



Reckless driving

A call to the department about Reckless driving on Attala County Road 4225 in Sallis, sent Nail out of the office.

Nail said after attempting to stop the white Chevy Lumina a short chase ensued.

At the end of the chase, the driver of the vehicle jumped from the moving automobile and fled.

Nail said the vehicle ended up in a ditch. Charges are pending.



Dozer damaged

Nail said a bulldozer on Youth Center Road was vandalized May 27.

This is the same dozer that was taken for a joy ride almost a week ago.

Nail said he doesn’t know if the incidents are related. There are four suspects the joy ride incident.
