Kosciusko City School Board adopts credit recovery plan

Kosciusko High School students will have a new way to retake some failed courses from now on.

The Kosciusko City School Board approved a credit recovery policy that would allow students to earn credit for a course that was previously failed during the school year and summer during their Monday night board meeting.

According to the Mississippi Department of Education’s Web site, credit recovery allows an opportunity for students to earn credit for a course in a few weeks or months rather than repeating the entire course.

The site also said a credit recovery program can be an effective way of helping students get back on track toward graduation in a more timely fashion, and perhaps encourage students to stay in school.

The resignations of Laura Barton at Kosciusko Lower Elementary, Melanie McKnight at Kosciusko High School, Susan Aldridge at Kosciusko Upper Elementary and Rebecca Chisolm at KHS were accepted by the board.
