Miller’s Grocery robbed

An Alabama man was charged with the robbery of Miller’s Grocery on Highway 14 at the intersection Highway 19 Wednesday, April 15.

Attala County Sheriff William Lee said Chris Boutwell, 36, of Alabama, was charged with strong armed robbery and vehicle theft.

Lee said Boutwell had been living near the store and working at the establishment.

Boutwell took $250 and drove away in owner Tom Miller’s 1992 GMC truck to Carthage.

After issuing a be-on-the-look-out alert, Lee said Boutwell was discovered in Carthage where he had met up with a female at a motel.

Attala deputies were sent to Carthage to pick up Boutwell and the truck was returned undamaged.

– Johnny Sides reported a stolen lamp post from his Attala County Road 4216 residence April 17.

–Bessie Evans, of Attala County Road 4045, reported a 32-caliber pistol had been take; there is a suspect.

–Cherry Henley reported a missing weedeater from her Pope Street residence in Ethel April 18.
