Region 5-1A Tournament bracket set

WEIR — The Region 5-1A Basketball Tournament is set to tip off at Weir High School beginning Monday afternoon.

Six teams are set to take part in the event that will conclude with the championship games on Friday, Feb. 12.

In Monday's first-round girls action No. 3-seeded Noxapater takes on Nanih Waiya at 4 p.m, while No. 4 seed Montgomery County and No. 5 seed French Camp Academy meet at 7 p.m.

In boys action on Monday, Noxapater takes on Montgomery County at 5:30 p.m. and No. 5 seed Weir closes out the opening day against No. 4 seed French Camp Academy.

All of Monday's winners will advance to the second round on Tuesday and will be assured of taking part in the South State Play-In Round on Monday Feb. 15 for the girls and Tuesday, Feb. 16 for the boys.

Tuesdays girls action in the Region 5-1A tournament has top-seeded Weir playing the FCA-Montgomery County winner at 4 p.m. and No. 2-seeded East Oktibbeha taking on the Noxapater-Nanih Waiya winner at 7 p.m.

No. 2-seeded Nanih Waiya takes on the Noxapater-Montgomery County winner in boys action at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while top-seeded East Oktibbeha faces the Weir-French Camp winner at 8:30 p.m.
