Manning resigns; MJMH continues business as usual

By Leslie N. Dees

In the wake of Richard Manning resigning as Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital administrator, acting administrator James Thomas, who also serves as chief financial officer, said it’s business as usual at the hospital.

He said the staff of MJMH are providing health care for those in need.

Manning resigned from his post on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and the hospital board of trustees accepted his resignation.

“The hospital board is in the process of seeking a new administrator for Montfort Jones,” Attala County Board of Supervisors President Eddie Womble said. “They will do what is in the best interest of our community and the people they serve.”

It is unclear why Manning resigned.

Board of Trustees President Paul Rone could not be reached for comment at press time.

The county-owned medical facility will be the highlight of the Kosciusko-Attala Development Corporation’s Annual Meeting Thursday. Those in attendance will hear from the architectural firm that has drawn up plans for the renovation of the 50-year-old hospital.
