J.C. Maxwell, owner and operator of J.C. Maxwell’s Store and pioneer Kosciusko merchant, has announced that he will cease operation of his business on the south side of the square after his present stock of merchandise, and fixtures are sold. The present owner first entered business here in 1911, going to work the day after graduation from high school in Kosciusko, for the W.B. Potts & Sons firm. Maxwell also worked a while for the Merchants & Farmers Bank, for the Alexander Mercantile Co., then about ten years for W.C. Leonard, before going into business for himself in 1928.
