Party at the Pines: Community, area raises $7,000 in memory of Felix Hutchison

The memory of Felix Hutchison of Newport was renewed at Party at the Pines held Saturday at the pond on the property of Jerry McCrory on Highway 19 south near Kosciusko.

Hutchison died in a Georgia burn center following an explosion which destroyed Longhorn Restaurant in the Newport Community a year ago.

Approximately $6,000-$7,000 was raised at the event which will go to the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association in Jackson with the contribution made in Hutchison’s honor.

Jerry McCrory was organizer and coordinator of the event with 300-500 people attending the activities which began at 4 p.m..

Entertainment was provided by 51 South, Lexie Greenlee and Gabby Kelly, Daves Highway, Sandy Brister, Darren Milner, Tammy Hunt, Scott McCrory, Deuces Wild, and Lost Highway.

Food was provided by Longhorn’s Catering. There was face painting, inflatables, pony rides and other activities for children.
