Thursday, I was at my desk reading police reports on four local teenagers who are facing serious drug charges in Florida when a binder with the bios of five Mississippi Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year nominees was delivered to me. The latter contained information that would help me serve as a judge in that competition the next day. The former contained information that a Florida judge (or jury) will use to determine the fate of four local teenagers.
