Three charged in county break-ins

By Leslie N. Dees

The Attala County Sheriff's Department arrested three men in two Sallis area burglaries late Tuesday.

Charles B. Presnell, 21, James Edward Cowans, 28, and Terrance Mack, 32, are charged with four counts of burglary and are sitting in Attala County Jail. No bond has been set.

Lee said almost of the stolen items have been recovered and a tip in the two burglaries helped them in catching the thieves.

On May 7, Ryan Sturdivant of Brandon reported five guns, two bows, two TVs, a DVD player and a PlayStation 2 had been taken from the hunting camp in Sallis, owned by his brother-in-law Paul Farmer.

Charles and Jimmy Cain reported the break in of two trailers and their house in the Sallis area last week, Lee said. Several guns and an Artic Cat four-wheeler were taken.

Lee along with Investigators Randy Blakely and Zellie Shaw and deputies worked the case.
