County finds pot near school

By Leslie N. Dees

The Attala County Sheriff's Department confiscated approximately 30 marijuana plants from a shed Monday morning from 303 Veterans Memorial Drive in Kosciusko, near Kosciusko High School.

“I had received some information on it and after a short investigation we went in,” Sheriff William Lee said.

David Lynn Salers, 53, and Tom Collins 63, were taken into custody.

Lee said Salers will be charged with manufacturing a controlled substance. Other charges are pending further investigation.

As the department searched further, Lee said they also found heat lamps, a vent system, surveillance camera system and other items used in the manufacturing of marijuana.

Inside the home, Lee said they found an undetermined amount of marijuana as a “finished product” and paraphernalia.
